POCO M7 5G Review: Chinese smartphone brand POCO has recently launched its budget 5G smartphone POCO M7 in India. Its starting price has been kept at Rs 10,499 , which is quite attractive in this segment. It is generally believed that the camera quality in budget smartphones is not special, but POCO M7 5G seems to prove this notion wrong. Its large 6.88-inch display , 120Hz refresh rate and powerful battery make it an excellent option for daily use.
Design and Display
The design of POCO M7 5G comes with a flat frame and rounded edges, making it feel comfortable in the hand. Its back panel has a dual-tone finish, with the lower part being matte and the upper part being glossy. However, the glossy finish quickly catches fingerprints. Its 120Hz refresh rate LCD display gives a good experience for gaming and video streaming. However, the large bezels slightly affect its visual quality.
Camera and performance
The phone has a 50MP primary camera (Sony IMX852 sensor) and an 8MP selfie camera. The camera clicks good pictures in daylight, but the quality drops a bit in low light. The night mode improves it to some extent, but not much. Talking about video recording, it can shoot videos at 1080p@30fps . In terms of performance, it has a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor , which handles general multitasking, social media and light gaming smoothly.
Battery and Software
POCO M7 5G has a 5,160mAh battery , which supports 18W fast charging . A 33W charger is available in the box with the phone, which fully charges the phone in about 2 hours. On a single charge, it easily lasts a whole day with light use. The phone runs on Xiaomi’s HyperOS , which is based on Android 14. The company has promised 2 years of major updates and 4 years of security patches . However, the pre-installed apps and ads can be a bit annoying. Overall, this phone offers 5G connectivity, good camera and strong performance in the budget.
